Air Force SC and Army SC remained unbeaten and topped group A & B respectively at the end of the ‘Indoor Segment’ of the 10th Munchee National Volleyball Championship 2017 Women’s Super League matches.
North Western wins National Sports Festival Volleyball titles
North Western Province won both the Men’s and Women’s..
The matches were played at the Jeyraj Fernandopulle Indoor Stadium in Negombo and the National Youth Services Council Indoor Stadium in Maharagama.
Group A
Defending champions Air Force, after an early threat from Navy SC won the match 3-0. The 1st set finished 25-17 and weathered the Navy challenge in the 2nd to win 25-23. However, the Navy charge was stopped in its tracks in the 3rd set as Air Force won it comfortably 25-7.

Air Force had a much sterner challenge in their match against Sri Lanka Ports Authority where it ended 3-2. Ports Authority won the 1st set 17-25. The 2nd set was a tight affair but again Ports pipped Air Force 25-27.
However, Air Force with a few Sri Lanka National players including skipper Dinesha Prashadini destroyed Ports Authority 25-13 & 25-6 in the next two sets to send the game into a deciding set.

Group B
Army SC, who were knocked-out in the semi-finals last year, had a storming run in the group without dropping a set.
MAS Leisureline & Casualline win Mercantile Super League Volleyball
MAS Active Leisureline and MAS Intimates Casualline defeated…
They easily defeated National Youth Services Council (NYSC) team 25-11, 25-14, 25-6.
Army met last year’s runners-up MAS Casualline in the final group match. After a neck and neck contest in the early stages Army went onto win the first two sets 25-20 & 25-21. They finished off the match winning the 3rd set 25-16.
