ThePapare.com learns that the current President of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) Anura De Silva has been removed from the FIFA Association Committee effective from 21st January 2017.

He had been in the committee since 2015, when he was appointed as the President of the FFSL. Previously it was the former President Ranjith Rodrigo who represented the committee from 2013-2015 during his tenure.

“Till now I was not informed of such a decision by FIFA. After FIFA appointed the new President there has been major structural changes to cut down on cost. It maybe because of it that a few committees also have been disbanded. That might be a reason that I have been removed. However I still haven’t been informed of such a decision,” Anura De Silva told ThePapare.com.

He further went onto say that, with the elections coming near there are some other parties who try to disrepute him and the FFSL.
