Angelo Mathews doubtful for Bangladesh clash

Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews’ participation in the third game of the Bangladesh ODI tri-series remains doubtful due to a hamstring tightness.

“The hamstring tightness has occurred, while Mathews was batting in yesterday’s Sri Lanka – Zimbabwe Match of the ongoing Tri-Series in Bangladesh. According to the team management, Mathews is currently being monitored and a decision on his participation in the next game will be taken by tomorrow.” SLC stated in a press release.

Sri Lanka will take on Bangladesh, tomorrow (19th January) at the Sher-E-Bangla-Stadium. The islanders lost their opening match against Zimbabwe by 12 runs on Wednesday at the same venue.

Mathews has a long history of hamstring, calf and ankle injuries missing plenty of international action and if deemed unfit, Dinesh Chandimal will lead the Lankan side. Zimbabwe match was Mathews’ first game as captain after being reappointed.
