The Sri Lanka Tennis Association played host to the 2018 All Island Tennis Championship on the 25th and 26th September, with St. Peter’s College and Ladies’ College claiming the championship titles.

The new and improved Under 20 fixture had over 20 schools from across the island in contention. The tournament is played as a team event where each school plays two singles and one doubles encounter; A pre-draw decides the order of play.

Giants of Sri Lanka School’s Tennis, St. Peter’s College proved their dominance once again by winning the overall Boys’ Title. They defeated the mighty Royal College Tennis team in in a cracker of a final. St. Joseph’s College emerged second runners up by defeating Ananda College in the 3rd place play-off.

Wrapping up a year full of victories, Ladies’ College added one more trophy to their cabinet by winning the overall Girls’ Championship, defeating the once dominant Visakha Vidyalaya. Bishop’s College took home Bronze with their win over Hillwood College Kandy in the third-place clash.

The tournament was disappointing for Royal College and Visakha Vidyalaya, missing out on the final Schools’ Tennis event for the year. Visakha Vidyala took home both the Under 15 and Under 17 titles earlier this year while Royal College bagged the under 17 boys’ title.
