Colombo FC handed the third consecutive loss to Civil Security as they won the match 3-0 at the City Football Complex with Afis Olayemi scoring a hat-trick.

It was a bright and sunny afternoon in Colombo as Colombo FC and Civil Security SC kicked off proceedings. Colombo recovered from week one loss, to Blue Star, as they thrashed Negombo Youth 4-0 last week while while Civil Security is stuck at the bottom with two big losses.

From the outset it was meant to be a one sided game and it proved to be so. Civil Security looked out off form from the word go and Colombo enjoyed most of the possession in the first half.

It took 21 minutes for Colombo to draw first blood through some skillful football from their midfielders. It was Afis Olayemi who gave the finishing touch to put his team ahead.

Seven minutes later Olayemi went on to score his second goal as Colombo FC grabbed the game by its neck.

Civil Security looked out of sorts most of the time in the first half. If not for the missed chances by Colombo FC the score line would have been much different.

Half time: Colombo FC 2 – 0 Civil Security

Second half was all about missed opportunities for Colombo FC. Civil Security tried to make a comeback to the game but their lackluster performance in the field did not let them make any inroads in the match.

Zarwan Johar and skipper Raumi Mohideen played vital roles throughout the match for Colombo FC.

Olayemi completed his hatrick in the 73rd minute through another combined effort from their attacking midfielders. Bodrie Dimitri’s absence was not felt on the attacking nature of football which Colombo FC showed in the field.

In the 84th minute U.Madusanka received a straight red card which was clearly caused by the frustration which was building right throughout due to the lackluster performance from Civil Security showed in the match.

Colombo registered their second victory in the league but it was a below par performance from them.

ThePapare.com Player of the Match: Afis Olayemi (Colombo FC)

Raumi Mohideen speaking to ThePapare.com after the match;

Really happy with the victory today. We started off bad this year but now we have two wins under our name. Our only concern is that our inability to put the finishing touches right, so going forward we would work on that and get better.
