The Royal Colombo Golf Club will come alive in this seasonal month of December as the 9th edition of the Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship will tee off on the 7th of December 2016.
The Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship is the final challenge for the junior golfers before the season comes to a close and will decide who will take home the Junior Champion title for the year. Over the year, the golfers exhibited their talents in two regional competitions that were held at the Victoria Golf Course in Kandy and at the Royal Colombo Golf Course.
The junior event will be conducted according to age group categories and will take place for a span of three days starting on the 7th of December. There will be four age categories in which the players will participate from the ages of 9 to 17.
Defending champion Januka Dilshan who graduated from the junior category did not enlist in this year’s competition but with the emergence of new contenders for the title, the final showdown is set to be an interesting one. Experienced junior golfers Vinod Weerasinghe, Armand Flamer Caldera, S. Flamin and Taniya Balasuriya are expected to provide tough competition in the final rounds.
Prima Sunrise will continue their effort in uplifting the standards of the sport as they sponsor yet another year in golf, empowering the 9th Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship this year. They were instrumental in extending their sponsorship out for the regional championships that were held throughout the year as well.
