ISAC was the brainchild of the Founder, late Mr. R.I.T. Alles of Gateway College. With the launching of ISAC 18 years ago, it is no doubt that the standard of athletics has advanced to an extent where TISSL member schools have been able to produce skilled, professional athletes capable of representing Sri Lanka at International Track and Field Championships. Olympian Shehan Ambepitiya, Commonwealth Junior Gold Medalist Keith De Mel, World Junior participant Sajith De Silva, Olympic Youth participant Udantha Bandara, World Youth Qualifiers Nidula Jayawardena, Asiri Wijesekara and Hamzan Arus, Asian Youth and Junior medalist Nadeeshani Henderson, South Asian Junior and Senior Medalist Ireshani Rajasinghe, South Asian Junior Gold Medalist Purnima Gunaratne are a few individuals who have paved their way all the way from ISAC to the National Schools level and further into bringing glory and honor to our nation.

Lyceum International School Wattala and Gateway College Colombo have proved their supremacy over the International School’s athletic field by competing head to head at the previous ISAC meets. Both Lyceum Wattala and Gateway Colombo have 8 wins each under their belt. Colombo International School Colombo were crowned champions at ISAC 2004.
