    Vijayabahu Motocross

    Vijayabahu Motocross, the motor racing competition organized by the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of Sri Lanka Army together with Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association (SLRRA) will be held on the 02nd of April 2017 for the 15th consecutive year at the Boyagane motocross track situated at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment premises in Boyagane, Kurunegala.

    Considered a unique race in the Island’s racing calendar, the race at Boyagane will also be worked-off on a unique track where spectators can witness the entire track from any position they opt to view the race providing the motor racing enthusiast with a wholesome experience. Boyagane is also credited as the most technically correct and the most challenging track available for the motocross cyclists of the country and will see the big names in the motor cross circles competing against each other for the first time this year.

    The award for the highest jump is another first of the competition open for motor cyclists of all levels and makes way for a thrilling event as the spectators are treated to exhilarating and heart stopping jumps by the riders in an attempt to clinch the ‘best  jump’ accolade.

    Conducted as the main fund raising event of the Regiment, all funds raised through the Vijayabahu Super Cross will be utilized in ventures such as construction of houses for the members of the Regiment, providing infrastructure facilities for officers and the other ranks, awarding scholarships and grants to the children of members of the regiment so they may excel in their studies. These are a few initiatives that benefit the members of the Infantry Regiment. However not limiting the good work to the welfare of the armed personnel, Vijayabahu Regiment has committed itself to uplift the education of the Wayamba Province by utilizing funds collected through the event to renovate and uplift the quality of classrooms at schools and have commenced a construction of a gymnasium of international standard and a playground accessible to the general public.
