Six more preliminary stage Cricket matches of the 13th Sri Lanka University Games 2019 (SLUG 2019) were concluded in different parts of the country during an extended weekend of play.
A few matches out of the 6 which were set to be played on the 27th Saturday, had to be postponed to the following day (Sunday) and week days as the cricketers were also involved in athletics events which took place at the Sugathadasa Stadium during the weekend.

Starting off the weekend for Cricket, the University of Jaffna recorded a commanding win over the University of the Visual & Performing Arts at Kelaniya while in another match of the same group, hosts University of Ruhuna were beaten comprehensively by the University of Peradeniya.
In another match on Saturday, University of Kelaniya got the better of Sabaragamuwa University in their own backyard in Belihuloya.
The University of Moratuwa and University of Colombo, playing their first matches of the competition on Sunday, had to face two different results – a win for Colombo and a defeat for Moratuwa. Uva Wellassa University was the unlucky team to be beaten in Colombo while South Eastern University of Sri Lanka beat University of Moratuwa in Oluvil.
Ending the week of play, defending champions University of Sri Jayawardenapura recorded another easy win yesterday (31st), this time over Eastern University of Sri Lanka in Moratuwa.
