In a bid to rekindle the spirit of Sri Lanka’s National Sport, Munchee has once again stepped forward to sponsor the National Volleyball Championship.
Sri Lanka beat Vietnam to finish 13th
Sri Lanka defeated Vietnam in straight sets to finish in 13th place in the Men’s Volleyball..
This will be the 11th consecutive year Munchee will be sponsoring this particular tournament. The tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVF) will kick off on the 1st of October, leading way to the grand finale on the 16th December 2018 at the National Youth Services Council Indoor Stadium in Maharagama.
Nalin Karunarathne the CEO of Ceylon Biscuits Limited expressed his thoughts at the press conference;
“Munchee has extended a commendable support towards the sport for 11th consecutive year. Munchee now and always has become a strength to the young and upcoming talent and we will continue to do so in the future”
The National Volleyball Championship is held as Novices and Super League tournaments where it is divided under Men’s and Women’s categories. The tournament will also be held in two phases namely District and National levels.

SLVF will also hold a number of exclusive matches in outdoor venues namely Gampaha, Puttalam, Madampe, Ruwanwella and Horana districts. The creme of Sri Lanka’s Volleyball players – the top 8 Men’s teams and top 6 Women’s teams will vie for the coveted Super League titles.
The organizers expect a participation of 2,500 to 3,000 teams this year for Novices tournament. The deadline for all applicants will close on the 31st September.

“Munchee has given us great support towards uplifting Volleyball and we thank them for helping us develop the sport further strengthening and elevating the biggest sport spread across the Island. It’s the most popular Volleyball tournament in Sri Lanka and we are thankful for joining hands and also invite other companies to take Munchee as an example and join hands for a good cause.”
